Flies
Flies
The way flies digest their food is unique. In order to consume and digest food, they regurgitate a liquid onto the food or prey which turns the food or prey into a liquid medium. The food, once in liquid form, can be sucked up via a tube and absorbed by the fly. Digestion in flies essentially all takes place outside the fly's body. The only process that takes place within the fly is the absorbing of nutrients.
